These are the most common questions asked.
How does chiropractic treatment work?
Chiropractors are trained to diagnose, treat and prevent mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal (muscle and joints) system. At Total Chiropractic we use adjustments to the spine and joints of the body, soft tissue therapy and advice on exercises and posture to help treat your problem and to try and help prevent your problem from reoccurring.
Each patient has their own individual treatment plan with advice and exercises tailored to them to help them get the best results from their package of chiropractic care.
Do I need to see my G.P before I book an appointment?
The short answer is no, you do not need to see your G.P before booking an appointment. However, if you are claiming through medical insurance you may need to speak to your G.P first. Please contact your insurer to find out.
What will happen during my first appointment?
To answer this question fully I have written a blog but the quick answer is. During your first appointment I will talk about your problem, your medical history and carry out a physical examination. I will then discuss the findings with you, answer any questions you have and then and we can start treatment.
What’s the pop noise I hear when I am adjusted?
This is a question I am asked very often. It is not bones or joints cracking but gas releasing from the joint. If you would like more information than that you can read my blog about it here.
What’s the difference between a Chiropractor and an Osteopath?
The question everyone asks. So much so I teamed up with an osteopath Melanie Harrison so that we could answer it together, you can read about the differences between osteopaths and chiropractors here.
